The Green Planet is an indoor zoo and garden in the City Walk area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It houses over 3,000 plants and animals in its artificial “bio-dome” tropical rainforest, including birds, reptiles and fish. They are kept in open environments. It opened in September 2016. The floor space is 60,000 square feet. The attraction was created by Meraas.
Environment and Atmosphere
A seating area is available, various kinds of parrot toys are on display, and it feels as though one is watching a Disney cartoon. Different types of small and large fish are inside. Lifts have also been installed for the convenience of visitors. There are very tall, towering trees, and the parrots have been left free in a very large space.
The parrots are not at all afraid; on the contrary, they curiously approach and watch the visitors. All kinds of plants have been planted, and little dishes of food for the parrots have been placed everywhere. The atmosphere is alive with the sounds of the parrots.
Boards have been put up to inform visitors about the parrots that are there, and a small photo spot has also been installed where people take photographs. It’s a beautiful spot, and the flowing water looks stunning. The staircases are very skilfully constructed, and the interesting thing is that this place feels completely immersed in nature, something that is very rare to find these days.
Animals and Creatures
It’s not just parrots; various species of lizards are also present. Lights have been installed around the water features so that aquatic creatures can be clearly seen at night. Everyone has a mobile phone at hand and never tires of capturing these scenes.The finest and rarest plants are on display. People bring their little children along so they too can be happy seeing it all. Baths have been built for the birds so they can rest in them whenever they wish.
From tiny lizards to large ones, they are all present and very attractive. Here you will find plants, parrots, various lizards and different species of frogs.There are monkeys, African dwarf crocodiles, rainforest reptiles, colourful fish and turtles on display too. Furthermore, there is also a lemur.
Among the nocturnal creatures you can see a python. Snakes are among the night creatures. There’s also an anaconda.Centipedes and snails are present, and you can observe hissing cockroaches, scorpions, frogs, spiders, cockroaches and centipedes.
Design and Natural Feel
It may seem as though all these things have been here from the start, but that is not the case; they were all designed by hand. Everything feels completely natural; some of the insects are even made to look realistic and make sounds. Here, everything is wild.
Artificial spider webs have been hung up to make it look completely real. There is a very large tree, which is artificial. It doesn’t look at all as though the design has been artificially created.
Some places feel as if you have entered a grassy jungle, and such places I have only seen in cartoons or thriller movies.Animal footprints have also been made on the ground, and there’s a green-coloured lizard too, which is catching everybody’s attention.
Visitor Experience and Activities
To assist visitors, there is a person stationed everywhere to help them with sightseeing. There are staff who take excellent care of cleanliness so that visitors have ease and hygiene is maintained.
Visitors can be seen feeding the animals by hand. Some staff are on duty holding snakes so that any visitor wishing to handle one can do so; the remaining snakes are kept in glass enclosures with transparent tops.
In the animal encounter area, you can take pictures with the reptiles. You can also hold some of them under supervision.

After scanning the barcode, you can enter The Green Planet Dubai. The theme has been designed like a tropical paradise. There are rides for small children, and there is also a washroom for visitors’ comfort.There’s also a cafeteria where you can get ice cream, juice, bottled water, slush and popcorn, etc.
There’s a wide range of animal and bird-themed merchandise, including shirts and mugs. Caps and face masks are available to buy. A shopping area also exists.Outside The Green Planet Dubai, the sign you see before entering has been designed so that at a glance you can tell what you’ll find inside.
Wristbands are fitted before entry. After exiting, you can re-enter, and your ticket will not expire.

Visiting The Green Planet Dubai starts from level 4.
From level 4 you start and gradually come down to level 1. On the third floor you’ll see people holding snakes in their hands. On the second floor, called the forest floor, you’ll see a water view.
There is also a place where various colourful fish are kept in an open-air enclosure with no covering.
